We received so many requests to do a post about our wedding in Long Island City - with that I’d like to share some photos of the design to talk through our vision and the space. Huge shout for Elkin Cardona for capturing these!
Cisco and I wanted a non-traditional wedding-meaning no dance hall, no mass the day of, just immediate family and friends to come together and celebrate this beautiful moment with us. With that, came a long list of research for us to find the right venue that would capture our personalities and vision. The minute we walked into The Foundry we were just blown away and asked for the contract on the spot! It was the perfect balance between industrial, elegant, picturesque, and romantic. Our wedding was a first for a lot of our family, so we wanted to make it special and memorable for everyone to truly experience our love & union.
We had about 140 guests, which was perfect for the venue to accommodate. However, if you’re looking to have a larger group - unfortunately the Foundry won’t do as it can only accommodate up to 165 for a seated dinner in the courtyard. We ended up renting the main space, courtyard, green room, and pool room. This allowed for ample space for our guests to flow in between rooms throughout the event. My only caveat with working with a venue like this is that you’re responsible for arranging everything from the catering to rentals to flowers, DJ, lighting and so on. This may be a lot of work for some couples being that you have to work with so many vendors at once; although it does allow you full creative freedom to plan/design according to your vision.
We partnered with Komolmis Designs- THE BEST planners in the game, true gems. They managed the process from end to end without a hiccup! They brought EVERY single detail to life and guided us through every hurdle. By the end of it all these ladies had won our hearts and friendship! Our highest regards overall to working with just a great team of people - please go follow their pages below for some inspo!
